Every business and person has an ID number. For the business, it is a 9 digit Business ID Number, and for the person, it is an 11 digit NIN number. What comes next is the subscriber extension. For example, a person can receive up to 10 telephone numbers while a business can have up to 1,000. This might sound extreme, but it is designed in a manner to assure that there is an excess in numbers, and the customer does not have to figure out what to do because they ran out of numbers.
In example, let’s assume that my NIN is 87222554377. I could have a voicemail number of 872225543770, a home phone number of 872225543771, a fax number of 872225543772, and so on. This assures that I have enough telephone numbers to meet all of my needs. And since all three of these numbers literally belongs to me, then my name will show up anytime I was to use an outgoing number to make a call. If I moved to Kaldus, then I might choose 872225543777 as my cellular number. Since this is a Kaldan number, there is no worries of long distance charges as all Kaldan telephone numbers are considered as domestic. A similar design is for businesses, however – the last 3 numbers are different allowing for that 1,000 number limit. All businesses 2nd and 3rd digit will be 0. An example, government owned businesses will be 200.
This means if there are multiple carriers, they will receive the number directly from Ka-Tel, and that number will be theirs. An exception is private numbers which is 901-909 telephone numbers. This is intended to offer a private number for those that are in need of a private number. One example might be abuse victims. Other examples will be journalists, and whistle blowers. Only Ka-Tel will know the identity of the Private Number, and the Caller ID is Undisclosed Caller as the caller. This is again to protect the identity of the person that needs a private number. Since Ka-Tel owns the networks, they can provide the number to the person, and of course – the customer will pay Ka-Tel for the number. Once they no longer need the number, it will be relinquished back to Ka-Tel for use by another person.
